Oklahoma

Oklahoma was the 46th state to enter the union. It entered the union in 1907. Currently 3.94 million people call Oklahoma home. It is my state also. Let me share interesting facts. Economics of a state include the ways that the state and people make money. Oklahoma industries include the oil and wind energy. Agriculture is an important industry making about $2 billion each year.

Oklahoma’s energy mostly comes from their  natural gas and wind energy. Wind turbines are now more popular than oil. They are a renewable source of energy. Devon Energy Center is Oklahoma’s energy center. This energy center is the 49th tallest building in the U.S.A

The climate of  southern and eastern Oklahoma is humid subtropical. Oklahoma has many tornadoes. That is why Oklahoma is known as tornado alley.

Oklahoma has many state symbols. The state rock is formed by barite rock crystals and looks like a rose. It is called rose rock. The state animal is an American bison. The state bird is scissor-tailed flycatcher. It can be seen on the state quarter!

You should visit Oklahoma because there are many things to see. You will see wind turbines and oil pumps. Maybe you could find a rose rock while you walk. Hopefully you don’t see tornadoes though!

Spring Concert

My friends and I were very nervous. The concert was beginning. So much fear when the music started. The kindergarten through six grade all ran to the stage to dance our opening number. My dance solo was in the opening song. Suddenly it was my turn. I was doing cartwheels and hand stands. The dance was the hardest thing about the concert.

Then kindergarten through six grade sang three songs. That was fun but not my favorite part of the show. The best part for me was watching the highschoolers! I enjoyed hearing a difference between their normal voices and their singing voices.

Many of them sang with higher voices than they talk with. However at the end, the concert turned out better than I thought. I think we all did a tremendous job!

The Important Thing

The important thing about mountains is that you can ascend them.

They smell fresh and look very beautiful .

You can hear the amazing birds.

You can feel the grassy,  rocky mountains tops.

But the important thing about mountains is that you can climb them.

Limerick

I am the best the swaggerness.

I love to hand with floppiness.

I used to be a bat lover.

Know I will just run for cover.

Cause staying safe is happiness.

I am the best the swaggerness.

Second attampt

There once was a boy named Bob.

He wanted to find a job

He knew he couldn’t,

So he just wouldn’t,

Because he was a big slob.

Free Verse – Zipline

Zip-line

Heart beating

like an uncontrollable drum.

Feeling nauseous.

The zip-line!

Gear on.

First course small.

It couldn’t be too scary – I thought.

Big course

60 feet down, 45 feet long. …

Scary, breathtaking, joy.

Anxious at first.

Thankful at end!

‘Eggs’periment

My teacher, Miss Van den Broek , had us do an ‘eggs’periment . We had to make a container that would protect our egg. Our class would be expected to drop our eggs in the container in 3 days.

We started to build first I took an egg carton and put foam in it. Then I made a paper parachute I learned that the first design did not work , so I tried a paper bag for the parachute instead.

Next it was time to test our egg containers! Our class went outside to a high spot on the playground. I was scared.  When it came to my turn I knew it would break. Drop! There it went! When it landed I ran down the stairs my egg was not cracked! Yeah, I  dropped it from a 3 meter height and it did not crack! Finally it came to the big test: 7 meters. I  was first!  3 ,2, 1, go! My teacher told me to drop my egg. Half way down my egg fell out of my container that  I had built to protect my egg .

It survived! We all thought that my egg would crack. I learned that ‘eggs’periments push you to your limit by making you try harder than you think.
